Dr. Ashutosh Shah is a plastic, reconstructive and cosmetic surgeon in Surat, Gujarat. He holds an M.Ch. in Plastic Surgery from The M S University of Baroda (2004) and a D.N.B. in Plastic Surgery (2006), trained in microvascular surgery at Ganga Hospital, Coimbatore, and has run his own practice in Surat since 2004.
Dr. Ashutosh Shah is a Navsari native who settled in Surat, Gujarat, in 2004 to establish his cosmetic and plastic surgery practice. He studied at Baroda Medical College from 1992, completed his general surgery training in 2001, and then earned his M.Ch. in Plastic Surgery from The M S University of Baroda in 2004. During his residency he was exposed to the full range of plastic surgery. In 2006 he was awarded the D.N.B. in Plastic Surgery by the National Board of Examinations.
He went on to train in microvascular and reconstructive surgery at Ganga Hospital, Coimbatore, and in cosmetic surgery at Apollo Hospital, Chennai.
Reconstructive surgery rebuilds parts damaged by birth defects, injury, burns or cancer. Cosmetic surgery improves the appearance of normal parts. Most plastic surgeons focus on one of the two. Dr. Shah practises both.
He is a well known reconstructive microvascular surgeon in Gujarat, with a large number of replantations and microvascular operations in his career. He also treats burns, performs post-trauma and post-cancer reconstruction, and operates on congenital defects such as hypospadias, microtia and cleft lip and palate. On the cosmetic side he is trained in cosmetic dermatology, lasers and anti-ageing treatments including thread lifts, Botox and fillers.
Microvascular work teaches a surgeon to protect blood supply, plan incisions carefully and keep scars small. The same skills make cosmetic results safer and more natural.
