Laser Varicose Vein

Laser Varicose Vein

A laser is a beam of light that is extremely focused. A laser can be used by a doctor to heal varicose veins. When a vein is damaged by laser heat, scar tissue forms. This scar tissue seals off the vein. A confined vein loses its blood supply and dies. The vein will most probably fade after a year or two.

Basic Laser treatment

Simple laser vein treatment is performed on the skin's surface. It is effective for treating spider veins and tiny varicose veins just beneath the skin's surface. More than one laser session is usually required. They are scheduled every 6 to 12 weeks, depending on your doctor's orders.

Endovenous laser therapy

Larger varicose veins in the legs can be treated with endovenous laser treatment. A laser fiber is inserted into the vein via a thin tube (catheter). While doing so, the doctor uses a duplex ultrasound screen to monitor the vein. Laser is less traumatic than vein ligation and stripping, and it takes less time to recover. Laser treatment requires only local anesthesia or a light sedative.

You will be able to walk after the therapy, and recovery time is usually brief. After simple laser treatment, you should be able to resume your normal daily routine.
